The home of a stylist who lives in the coffee shop she owns in Yokohama, Japan was always going to be interesting. And perhaps it’s not quite what you’d expect for urban Japanese living! Drawing inspiration from coffee itself, and the emotions drinking coffee evokes, as well as a good dose of Danish design inspiration, Nobuka Yuba’s home is cosy, welcoming and charming. Nobuka was in the unique position of being able to design her home and coffee shop from the ground up, it’s unusual angles form cosy rooms, and the abundance of windows flood the rooms with natural light and show off amazing Yokohama views.
The Istra sofa in grey fabric is a perfect choice, it’s Danish design complement other pieces of Danish style furniture in the room, and the 3 seater offers generous seating without being bulky. The slim arms and legs keep it light in appearance and maximise seat space, the deep seat ensure a cosy place to put your feet up. Seen here with the Woody floor lamp. The brick walls in the apartment were salvaged from an old British Castle!
Large windows in the apartment flood the room with natural light and offer amazing views.
Nobuka’s gorgeous dog Coro is comfy on the Istra! For small spaces, using a round rug and small nesting tables is a great way to furnish the living room area to create a finished and intimate zone.
